Hello and congratulations to your new telescope. Maybe some sort of sports bag would do to transport it in.
It might be necessary to disassemble the mount head from the tripod for transport, but it seems quite transportable. Be careful with the tube when you transport it, wrap it in something protecting.
You will get it probably in time for the darkness to return and it would be interesting to read about "first light" and your observations.

Thank you Torbjörn ! Yes, I think I will start using the scope seriously only in September. I plan to buy some bubbelplast to wrap the scope in or maybe use some of the same packing material that the scope will come with. I hope it doesn't take too long to assemble the mount head on the tripod !

How about the Island Mörkö close to Södertälje?? Maybe a relative dark place and very beautiful at daytime. There is buses there to so it will be easy for you. Take a look at Gmap or similar.

I shall certainly check out your website Lars !

And Mörkö looks like an excellent potential dark sky spot ! It seems to be around an hour away by public transport from Södertälje which is certainly not too bad for a weekend visit. Thank you very much for the suggestion.

Hello Daya,

Bubbelplast sounds like a good idea. It is not difficult to disassemble and assemble an equatorial mount but I think it is a good idea to try it at home before doing it in the dark. It will also sooner or later be necessary to collimate your Starblast, at least for high magnification use.

I just came home after a failed attempt to observe Mars and Saturn down by the beach...cloudy. Better luck another day!

Besides the dew shield you put on the tube front opening, you may need some additional dew protection. Dew heaters and batteries may be too heavy for your level of portability, but if you bring some of these

you can attach one of them where dew is a problem. Maybe under the OTA front (if secondary mirror fogs up), or at the ocular. In cold weather I use them in my boots...

Dew strips work with 8 AA-batteries so not all that heavy if you can cope with just one strip.

For carrying I wouldn't use a bag. I'd look into the kind of heavy duty back-pack used for hiking. The kind with a metal frame. That way you could carry 15-20 kg for quite some distance if needed.

The dew-not heater works on USB 2.1A power which the powerbank delivers.
I have so far just used it for recharching my mobile phone from 0% to 100% 8 times withouth recharching the bank once.

There are other sizes of dew heaters on their site, even the old fashion ones with RCA plugs which requires a controller.
The USB don't get too hot as the regular ones so no worries to break anything with them, but it takes quite a while before they heat up though.
